Advocates urge lawmakers to pass child care bill on last day


Advocates for a bill to require state inspections and other new regulations for church-affiliated child care centers are urging lawmakers to pass the bill today, the last day of the legislative session.
Rep. Pebblin Warren, D-Tuskegee, the bill sponsor, noted that the state requires inspections of restaurants, tattoo parlors and hair salons but not all child care centers.
Warren's bill must first pass the Senate today to have a chance to become law.
"I've been praying for it and I know God doesn't let me down and he's not going to let me down today," Warren said.
