Arizona celebrating 20 years of Winter Olympics growth


The upcoming Winter Olympics are an anniversary of sorts for Arizona.
Our state, rich in Summer Olympics history, had only a small tie to the Winter Games before 1998 when the NHL first sent players to the Olympics.
Two years before, the Winnipeg Jets became the Phoenix (now Arizona) Coyotes, a relocation that jumpstarted Arizona's Winter Olympics participation. Now at the 20-year mark (1998-2018), Arizona will have athletes competing at a sixth consecutive Winter Olympics including its first native men's hockey player, Broc Little.
