Gov. Kay Ivey says special session on prisons possible; addresses health questions


Gov. Kay Ivey said this morning she might call a special session on prisons.
Ivey said an expected ruling from U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson would affect how the state proceeds to address problems with its overcrowded and understaffed prisons.
Thompson held a nonjury trial on inmate claims that mental health care does not meet constitutional standards. The trial ended in February and the judge is expected to rule soon.
