North Reading official resigns amid drug probe targeting workers
North Reading's public works director Richard Carnevale has resigned amid an ongoing drug investigation involving members of his department, Town Administrator Michael P. Gilleberto announced this morning.
Gilleberto stressed that Carnevale "is not implicated in the criminal investigation."
North Reading Police Chief Michael P. Murphy said Monday the criminal investigation involved the alleged dealing of prescription opioids and other drugs.
DPW worker Scott McDonough, 42, of Methuen was arrested Friday on a charges of conspiracy to violate drug laws and possession of oxycodone.... read more
