Protect phones, other devices in summer — without rice
Lakes and rivers draw many a vacationer in the summer. But time with cabins, boats and beaches also introduces risks to electronic devices, whether phones, tablets or laptops.
Josh Nelson, owner of LGS Electronics in St. Cloud, Minn., said one of the biggest dangers is direct sunlight. He recommended against leaving devices on a car dashboard or outside at the lake — two prime spots for battery damage, not to mention theft.
