Saguaro softball shuts out St. Mary's in home win


In a low-scoring affair, Scottsdale Saguaro softball shut out Phoenix St. Mary's 3-0 at home on Wednesday for a crucial win ahead of the playoffs next week.
Sophomore Cassidy Christenson got Saguaro on the board early with an RBI hit in the first inning. Saguaro (22-7) then went scoreless for four straight innings before freshman Taylor Holliday hit a two-run double.
St. Mary's (16-12) was incapable of getting much going offensively. Following an error, it had a golden scoring opportunity with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, but could not capitalize.
